Welcome to The Birthing Center at OSF St. Joseph. We hope you have a
wonderful beginning to the new life you are bringing into this world. Whether
you are expecting or just getting more information, begin your tour here,
at the labor desk.
 Labor-Delivery-Recovery Nurses' Station
Whenever a woman is in one of the Labor-Delivery-Recovery rooms, a nurse
is stationed at this desk unless she's in with the laboring mom. This is
where your journey begins, when you are taken into a Labor-Delivery-Recovery
suite.
Remodeled LDR rooms
The Birthing Center completely remodeled the Labor/Delivery/Recovery
area in 1996. The LDR rooms are nearly twice as large as before --able
to accommodate any and all equipment and staff that may be needed, but
still comfortable for mother and coach, with a television, music system,
adjustable lights and a private bathroom. The mother stays here through
all phases of labor and delivery and recovers for a time until she is ready
to move to her private post-partum room, where she will remain for the
rest of her stay at OSF St. Joseph.
 Private
Post-Partum Rooms
Every woman delivering a baby at OSF St. Joseph recovers in a private,
homey room, giving the whole family the time and opportunity to bond and
share the magical wonder of the first days of new life. Baby may stay with
mother as much as she likes, with the approval of baby's doctor. When new
babies aren't with Mom, they will be in the nursery.
Level II Nursery
Although most babies stay with Mom in her room for most of their time in
the hospital, The Birthing Center's nursery is equipped to care for all
healthy newborns and those with minor health problems.
