The Community Cancer Center is a joint venture between OSF St. Joseph Medical Center and BroMenn Healthcare. It is a comprehensive, community-based cancer center, designed for and operated as an integrated oncology program, providing coordinated services across the continuum of cancer care. The aim of the center is to provide quality oncology care to individuals and families in the Bloomington-Normal region in a cost-effective manner. It is a place where cancer patients and their families can turn for support and guidance, a source of advanced treatment, close to home. For the first time, Bloomington-Normal area health professionals and facilities are coordinating efforts to educate and to care.

Groundbreaking for the facility was October 16, 1997. The center is located on Vernon Avenue in Normal.

Some goals of the Community Cancer Center are:

• better cancer prevention information
• screening programs that often offer the best chance for early detection
• treatment plans developed by teams of multi-disciplinary experts who consult together to explore the best possible alternatives
• improved coordination of the many procedures cancer care often requires
• more current and effective treatments
• purchase of a linear accelerator to provide strong, focused radiation with a much greater potential to save lives
• services that help guide patients' experience with cancer, including patient education, family support, counseling, spiritual guidance, financial counseling and nutritional support
• survivor services that provide lifetime encouragement and support
• a common database that will identify the types of cancer that affect people in central Illinois
