American Stroke Association Achievement Award
In 2011, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center achieved Gold Plus status for the second consecutive year, which is the highest possible American Stroke Association's "Get with the Guidelines" rating. The award specifically recognizes OSF St. Joseph for its use of evidence-based guidelines to provide the best possible care to patients.

HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record Stage 6 Designation
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has achieved Stage 6 designation of the HIMSS Analytics Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Adoption Model. Currently, only 172 hospitals in the United States carry the Stage 6 designation. The Stage 6 designation means OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has fully implemented physician documentation/charting in patient care service areas. The medical center has also implemented a full complement of PACS systems, which provide medical images to physicians via an intranet and displaces all film-based images.

Commission on Cancer
In July of 2011, the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons granted OSF St. Joseph Medical Center the Outstanding Achievement Award. The CoC Outstanding Achievement Award is designed to recognize cancer programs striving for excellence in providing quality care to cancer patients. OSF St. Joseph’s cancer program is coordinated in collaboration with the Community Cancer Center in Normal, IL and was one of only six facilities in Illinois to receive the award.

Outstanding Patient Experience Award
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center received the Outstanding Patient Experience Award for 2010 and 2011, ranking among the nation’s top 10 percent in patient satisfaction by HealthGrades® - the nation’s leading health care ratings organization. OSF St. Joseph Medical Center is one of only 338 hospitals in the nation to be recognized nationally for its commitment to exceptional care.

Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories
In August of 2011, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center received the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories’ (ICAEL) accreditation for the second time. Accreditation status signifies that the facility has been reviewed by an independent agency which recognizes the laboratory’s commitment to quality testing for the diagnosis of heart disease.

Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois designated OSF St. Joseph Medical Center a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery in February 2010. The Blue Distinction designation is awarded to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality health care in the area of spine surgery. OSF St. Joseph Medical Center offers comprehensive spine surgery services, board certified physicians, and evidence-based evaluation protocols that are overseen by a team of spine surgery professionals.

American College of Radiology Accreditation
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) by the American College of Radiology (ACR). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. OSF St. Joseph Medical Center was also awarded a three-year term of accreditation in ultrasound in 2010 and maintained American College of Radiology accreditation in mammography since 2000.

Best-in-Class Nursing Organization
The Nursing Executive Center serves chief nursing officers and their leadership teams by tracking, reporting, and analyzing the most critical issues facing hospital-based nursing organizations today and into the future.  The Nursing Executive Center announced in September of 2008, they would like to profile OSF St. Joseph Medical Center as a "Best-in-Class Nursing Organization."

Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval
By demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization's national standards for health care quality and safety, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has earned the Commission's Gold Seal of Approval in 2005 and again in 2008.

Magnet Certification
In December 2008, the American Nurses Credentialing Center designated OSF St. Joseph Medical Center a Magnet hospital, making it the only Magnet hospital in McLean County and only the 18th in Illinois.  The Magnet Recognition Program acknowledges healthcare organizations that demonstrate excellence in nursing practice and adherence to national standards for the organization and delivery of nursing services.

Primary Stroke Center
In 2007, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center earned the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for Primary Stroke Centers.  This means OSF St. Joseph Medical Center is now a certified stroke center, a rare distinction for hospitals providing neuroscience care.

Self-Management Education Recertification
In February of 2009, OSF St. Joseph Medical Center was granted recertification for its nationally recognized American Diabetes Association (ADA) Self-Management Education Program.  This designation means OSF St. Joseph Medical Center has continued to meet national standards in diabetes education services (both individual and group class instruction) and is formally recognized by the ADA as a hospital-based outpatient diabetes education program.

U.S. News & World Reports: America's Best Hospitals List
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center was listed as the seventh best orthopedic hospital in Illinois, and the best orthopedic hospital outside of Chicago, by the U.S. News & World Reports: America's Best Hospitals list for 2009-2010. The medical center scored an 18.1 in the Orthopedics category, based on reputation, mortality index, patient safety index, discharges, nurse staffing, Magnet hospital designation, key technologies, patient services and trauma center availability.
