Introduction & Overview
OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Rehabilitation Services
offers inpatient and outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy
services to help patients achieve their fullest physical, social and communicative
potentials and to prevent future problems. Rehabilitation Services provides
quality physical, occupational and speech therapy in cooperation with physicians,
other health care providers and purchasers in a truly caring, professional
and timely manner.
Outpatient service is available Monday through
Friday. Inpatient rehabilitation is provided on a daily basis.
You or your physician may contact the Rehabilitation
Department to request service or information. Please call 309-661-6260 to schedule an appointment and have your questions answered.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy helps individuals improve function, aid movement and relieve
pain through the use of exercise and modalities.
Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy teaches individuals the skills needed for everyday
living, focusing on coordination, strength, cognition/perception, activities
of daily living and splinting/adaptive equipment.
Speech/Language Pathology
Speech/Language Pathology is the diagnosis and treatment of individuals
with speech, language, swallowing or voice disorders.
Physiatry
Physiatry is a specialized field of physical medicine and rehabilitation
that uses special techniques in electrodiagnostic medicine.
