Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Services at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center is looking to add to its wonderful family of volunteers and welcome you to consider joining us in serving our patients and staff.  If you want to make a difference and contribute to our medical center’s community of caregivers, here is your chance! Please consider joining us as a volunteer in any of these important volunteer positions:

  • Karing Partners – If your dog has a Good Canine Certificate or has been certified in Basic Obedience, please consider joining our team of therapy dogs. These dogs and their owners bring such comfort and smiles to our patients and are some of the most popular visitors here! Learn More >>
  • Fort Jesse Receptionists – Do you enjoy meeting new people and helping them find their way? We need friendly faces to help greet and escort our Fort Jesse patients.
  • Fort Jesse Rehab Patient Call-Backs – Do you like to talk on the phone? Rehab is looking for a volunteer to assist with patient call-backs and appointment reminders.
  • Fort Jesse Rehab Discharge Charts – If you are someone who pays attention to details and has two to three hours each week to help, you may enjoy preparing our discharged patient files for scanning. Rehab is willing to train several volunteers to prepare discharged patient charts for scanning, and maybe you are one of them!
  • Transport Services – These folks are the smiling faces behind the patient wheelchairs and happy escorts for our visitors all over the medical center campus. You will meet new people every day, plus it’s great for your health!
  • Patient Companions/CCC Receptionists – Volunteer Services is planning to train new individuals who would like to volunteer in the Comprehensive Care Center to assist the nursing staff. This position will include some patient contact.
  • Birthing Center – Our new Birthing Center has opened and we need volunteers to help staff our Labor and Delivery desk. This position would assist our busy nursing staff by bringing water to patients and helping out as needed.
