Volunteer Services
Running a medical center efficiently is no easy task. Volunteers and junior volunteers help keep programs and productivity functioning smoothly. Volunteers provide a special touch patients and visitors count on. Volunteers assist in a wide variety of areas around OSF St. Joseph Medical Center including OSF Community Prenatal Clinic, transport services, patient advocacy, reception desks, beauty cart, surgical family lounge, auxiliary gift shop, patient companion, emergency department, and crafts.
Good For The Heart
Studies show volunteers are healthier and more satisfied with life in general than people who do not volunteer. Volunteers tend to have increased energy, lowered blood pressure, lowered cholesterol levels and increased self-esteem. The study shows those who volunteer also have reduced anxiety and depression, increased mental functioning and reduced social isolation.
